First HolistiCon brings mind body, healing under one roof

By Abby Van Buren

To help educate and empower the community, the holistic market gathered under one roof June 15 and 16 for the first-ever Salt Lake HolistiCon.

The convention included speakers, vendors, classes and more consisting of essential oil representatives, crystal healing products, foot therapy, skin care, herbal supplements, yoga instructors, holistic healers and more.

“For our first year we loved and are happy of how it turned out,” founder and owner of HolistiCon Maile Roberts, said. “We are excited for next year, and the planning process is going to be big.”

Alaina Brown, a Reiki master and former pediatrician, held a booth of her own that represented the traditional usui system of natural healing. She encourages energy relief through her practices.

“I love empowering people to find their own healing,” Brown said. “You have to understand your darkness before you can understand your light.”

This convention will continue next year and will focus on professional resources to provide education for continuing and incoming participants.

“Our goal for HolistiCon is to eventually take it around the world because we all need this kind of a resource that makes the world better,” Roberts said. Roberts’ team will soon be releasing a podcast that will discuss all holistic topics to further education and grow the community.
