Environews: Land transfers in Cottonwood Canyons?
Wasatch Mountain ski areas are trying a land grab through the Central Wasatch National Conservation and Recreation Area Act. A version of the bill would exchange land privatized by historic mining claims for public land at the base of Alta, Brighton, Snowbird and Solitude ski resorts, vastly expanding the roadside foot-print of Wasatch Canyon ski areas. The Central Wasatch Commission (formed to implement the Mountain Accord) is negotiation possible swaps, and board members can be contacted with comments.
