Orchesis Dance Theatre presents Bloom Rising

Weber State University’s Orchesis Dance Theatre is proud to present Bloom Rising, bringing local, international, and student choreographers together to share and inspire audiences of all ages and cultural backgrounds. Bloom Rising features a world premiere by Karlies Kelley, founder of Panadanza Dance Company, connecting her Afro-Panamanian roots to build a work focusing on Panamanian music, contemporary folk dance, and folklore mythology. In addition, Holly Jarvis, a pioneer in the aerial sling, will enthrall audiences with the beauty of her skills and artistry. In recent years there have been remarkable changes in how we see and share spaces. The performances will allow the audience to contribute to a shared experience, adding to a moving, reflective, and energizing program that looks at how together we blossom and grow as a community.

Moving Company (MC), a course designed to allow students to learn about the various aspects of creating, rehearsing, and implementing dance community engagement, is partnering with the Boys and Girls Club of Weber-Davis to enjoy dance activities. In addition, MC is preparing an international outreach with Movement Exchange, a non-profit arts organization providing opportunities for college students to share their passion for dance advocacy, teaching, and service in Panamá.
