Ask the Astrologer: Everything is awry—how to get on track?

By Christopher Renstrom

I’ve been going through a rough patch with mixed feelings about everything in my life. Nothing is where I would like it to be. I’ve been practicing spirituality, but can’t even keep a positive attitude. Can you give me any insight? My birth information is December 29, 1973, 4:14 AM, Hartford, CT.

You sound like someone who’s been living with eclipses rolling through her horoscope. These have impacted everyone born under the zodiac signs of Capricorn and Cancer since July 2009. Eclipses are a pretty big deal in Astrology because they’re regarded as life course correctors. They’re aimed at getting you to redirect the direction of your life.

Now it would be nice if eclipses were illuminating, but my experience is that they’re more blindsiding then enlightening. It’s only in the six months following their occultation that they begin to make any kind of sense. The most recent lunar eclipse on December 21, 2010 took place right at the north and south node axis of your horoscope. Lunar eclipses are connected with clearing out past baggage, so this would have pushed you to make some sort of break with a situation you felt was bringing you down or holding you back. It might have been connected to the way you make money, your living situation, or even a family matter (perhaps something involving a sibling?). In any case it would have been heavy and emotional. The recent solar eclipse at 13 degrees Capricorn (January 4, 2010) fell over the part of Fortune in your horoscope. This would have acted as a wake up call pertaining to a financial matter. I expect that it lit a fire under your feet so that you could act in a timely manner to protect your interests. Both of these eclipses look like intense experiences, but neither would have given you a solid feel for where things are heading in your life.

There’s often a fumbling around in the dark feeling that comes with an eclipse. And this makes perfect sense when you remember that a solar eclipse is by definition when the Moon passes in front of the Sun and blocks out its light. This energy funk should lift by July 1, 2011 but I have a feeling that you will start to feel more inspired, motivated, and revitalized on January 22, 2011 when Jupiter enters Aries and then again on March 11, 2011 when Uranus also enters Aries. This kicks off a very fiery and dynamic period that lasts until early May 2011. Now you will see a lot of dips and rises in your life (think rollercoaster ride), because both Jupiter and Uranus are “rock your world” types of planets. Things are never the same after they pass through and they will be forming a powerful square to your Sun during this time. But I can assure you that you will also find their effect to be both revelatory and exhilarating. More importantly they will rekindle your life purpose so that it’s no longer burning on a low flame, but roaring like the open fire it should be. Work with the energies that are being unleashed and you will find this to be an exciting and adventurous time.
