Magic. I try to catch it. Trying to conjure a world from canvas and paint, or paper and pencil, taps into an elemental place of play and imagination. The interplay of ideas, shapes, and color can take on a life of its own. Sometimes, it seems, a painting can almost breathe. And then, when others bring their ideas and emotions, a painting’s world can grow bigger still. It’s magic, and I try to catch it.
