This week, the best news is first: Mercury Direct is driving the regular routines of daily life, and as it moves forward, those habits, duties, and obligations move like quicksilver. Expect to feel driven by this forward motion pace—sometimes, even pushed—to handle all that needs to be handled. Don’t be surprised if timetables and timelines feel exaggerated and distorted or if your ability to manage time takes on a surreal quality—one minute the seconds whiz by, but the next hour is slow as molasses.
The difficult news of the week—at least difficult for those trying to maintain an even keel in the midst of the dynamic Mercury Direct momentum—is the presence of two other equally intense configurations. The first is the Sun/Uranus opposition that was in effect last week and continues through Monday, October 19; and the other is a Mars/Jupiter conjunction that trines Pluto, which was also in effect last week, and ends on October 29. And even though these interactions were present last week and we felt their effect, this week there’s nothing to impede their motive force. If anything, the pace of Mercury Direct amplifies the force field of both.
A Sun/Uranus opposition symbolizes an intense desire to break free from whatever enslaves, and it makes no difference if that servitude is real or imagined. The Sun represents spirit or life force. Uranus represents breakthrough. And oppositions represent the tension created by opposing forces. In this particular interaction, that tension plays out between the Sun, in Libra, the Sign of relationship, and Uranus, in Aries, the Sign of individuation. During this opposition, lopsided relationships built on inequality tend to pull apart, if only because the imbalance is too obvious to ignore. If you find yourself straining to stay friends, lovers, or co-workers but you don’t want the hassle of “breaking up,” just bide your time—this too shall pass. But notice what it costs you to maintain the dysfunction. Sometimes, when we tell our truth, the other person has the opportunity to respond with equal honesty, and that can shift the dysfunction of the relationship and put it on a healthier track. Whatever you do, try not to make decisions or declarations for their own sake. Think before you speak.
The Mars/Jupiter conjunction, in Virgo, is an ambitious, hardworking combination of astral forces. Mars signifies muscle. Jupiter signifies expansion. Virgo is a practical, roll-up-your-sleeves Sign, and when Mars and Jupiter share the same space in this busy Earth Sign, we tend to feel the need to get a lot done. But that’s not all. This conjunction forms a trine to Pluto, in Capricorn, another industrious Earth Sign. Pluto represents power, and its presence turns the Mars/Jupiter conjunction even more determined to succeed, which means we will do whatever it takes to make that astral influence produce tangible results. By Saturday, October 17, Venus, the goddess of love, beauty, and money joins this Mars/Jupiter conjunction and its trine to Pluto, amping up the need to make these endeavors financially beneficial. Put this entire positive cohort to work helping you actualize your goals.
Just try to stay grounded in your aspirations. Neptune continues to oppose Venus until October 22, and because Neptune signifies projection, illusion, delusion, and imagination, its opposition to Venus could lead to some pie-in-the-sky dreams.
