For the next several weeks, the best transformational tool for conscious living is the willingness and the flexibility to embrace a kaleidoscope of perspectives. We’re in the thrall of several intense astral patterns, all of which require dexterity – emotional, physical and spiritual – to shift from one point of view to another with minimal effort. Mental agility is also crucial during this phase, for as the days and nights unfold, handling certain circumstances will require moving between the many dimensions of the mind, from the practical to the ideal and back again to the pragmatic, all in the blink of the mind’s eye.
Not all that occurs in this concentrated wave of intensity is negative – for some, this is a period of dynamic creative expansion. But that doesn’t mean the rigors of conscious living won’t be exhausting – actually, even for those of us who aren’t facing an immediate difficult situation, simply being there for those who are will require stamina and strength. So whether you are in crisis, as far too many of us are, or a first responder to crisis, physical or psychic, do whatever it is you do to ground yourself in your deepest truth. There are no quick fixes or easy solutions to be had; there is only the determination to keep evolving, one issue and one theme at a time.
We are between three eclipses. The first was a lunar eclipse on April 25; the second is a solar eclipse on May 9; the third is another lunar eclipse on May 25. From an astrological perspective, eclipses disrupt the “normal” order of things – regimes, regimens, routines, and roles turn topsy-turvy. A solar eclipse symbolizes the power of the unconscious to overshadow conscious concerns; a lunar eclipse highlights conscious concerns above all others. And just to make it more confusing, the eclipse effect – solar or lunar – is felt before or after the actual event; time feels distorted and exacerbates a sense of dislocation, again, experienced on many levels. Be patient with yourself and others, especially those already hypersensitive. Also be kind to children; they often channel the intensity around them without any awareness that they are simple conduits.
We are also in the tightening grip of the third Uranus/Pluto square, which will be exact and separating on May 20. Uranus symbolizes the revolutionary, every ready to catalyze stagnant systems, personal and collective, in desperate need of change. Pluto represents the process of death and rebirth, and tends to only be satisfied with change that occurs at the core. From an astrological perspective, interactions between these two planets symbolize periods of profound upheaval, particularly evident through the various movements for social justice. From a personal point of view, this square has the potential to trigger themes you may not have thought were a part of your fabric. Or, that you may have already thought were well worked out. From a collective perspective, all those areas of unresolved conflict – and they are everywhere – are sure to erupt with new fervor.
Often we resist what most needs to shift, so pay attention to ideas, behavior, and relationships you’re holding onto, and question whether your grip is motivated by fear or habit. The ability to discern what’s authentic and wholesome will help you to let go of attitudes and perspectives that no longer serve.
If you know your Ascendant and/or your Moon Sign, read that, too.
Aries March 21-April 19
It’s not that you are a literalist – you just don’t appreciate obscure communication that never gets to the point. Be direct, clear, and precise, and you’ll model effective communication.
Taurus April 20-May 20
Not being all that you can be would be like trying to keep your eyes open while you sneeze. So rather than wasting time on parlor tricks, devote yourself to the most authentic creative self-expression possible.
Gemini May 21-June 21
An interior monologue bordering on Shakespearean seems to have hijacked your normal state of mind. Rather than reacting to what’s being said, just notice the complaints and let go.
Cancer June 22-July 22
The time for quiet introspection is on its way, and you will soon have the rest you need. But in the meantime, it’s essential to recognize your limitations to work within those parameters.
Leo July 23-August 22
Your success lies in your ability to stay open to the possibilities, and that doesn’t mean saying “yes” to every opportunity. All that’s necessary is recognizing the depth of your potential.
Virgo August 23-September 22
Let go and accept the situation for what it is, and don’t worry about what others think of your choices – they don’t know the truth of your heart.
Libra September 23-October 22
You’re still in a profound phase of personal transformation. Release the need for a specific outcome, and you’re likely to be surprised by this powerful growth spurt.
Scorpio October 23-November 21
The Hanged Man card from any Tarot deck is the perfect symbol for the state of all your relationships. Turn prior patterns on their head, and you’ll find the missing piece.
Sagittarius November 22-December 21
Along with the many work-related opportunities, there are equal openings for true service. As you sort through the details, remember, authentic service always makes the heart sing.
Capricorn December 22-January 19
There is no containing the need for creative self-expression, so rather than trying to impose limits, give yourself permission to be absolutely free and unencumbered by inhibition.
Aquarius January 20-February 18
It’s all about hunkering down at home and allowing yourself to hermitize to your heart’s desire. There is no need to be self-conscious about answering this need – it is a necessary phase.
Pisces February 19-March 20
The conversations continue, but the emphasis is on creating greater integration of thought, word, and deed. Even the slightest effort will manifest an immediate shift in attitude.
