The Aquarium Age: Apr. 6-12

By Ralfee Finn

It’s an anything goes week, so don’t be surprised if your week is colored by surprising plot twists catalyzed by out-of-the-blue bolts of lightning. Uranus, the astro-symbol for the unexpected and unanticipated, is lighting up regular routines with impulsive decisions designed to break free from the drudgery of mundane habits of every denomination. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself singing endless choruses of “I gotta be free ‘cause I gotta be me.” Also don’t be dismayed if a significant other, personal or professional, makes a declaration of independence that cannot be denied or ignored. What’s more, the reason these rebellions must be taken seriously is their link to more than a whim. Pay attention to all these attempts to cut the negative ties that bind—yours or others’. It’s a wild world we live in, and personal liberation, as well as social liberation, are a major part of the new terrain.

It’s a Sun/Uranus conjunction in Aries that sparks this deep need for personal freedom. Actually, this combination has been operative since Saturday, April 2. It is exact on Saturday, April 9 and continues to ignite the fires of freedom until Sunday, April 17. The Sun represents spirit—it’s the symbol for the life force. Uranus, in addition to signifying surprising twists of fate, also symbolizes the revolutionary who is willing to fight for freedom wherever that fight is deemed necessary. And when these two vital planets share the same space, they light up stagnant areas in need of shift, individual and collective. While it’s impossible to prepare for the unpredictable, it is possible to find an internal stance that allows you to cope with the changes. Find that flexible attitude and let it guide you through the coming weeks. Also keep in mind, sometimes simply speaking from the heart—speaking your truth—alleviates the need for action. It’s as if acknowledging and giving voice to your truest feelings is itself a catalyst for change—and it’s often enough to stimulate a much-needed transformation.

A Sun/Saturn trine grabs onto those Sun/Uranus sparks, making it possible to fan the fires of change without having the situation turn into a conflagration. Use this combination to make decisions, even in the face of uncertainty. It’s easy to think of Saturn’s capacity for limitation and inhibition as a negative force, but sometimes, especially in the midst of Uranian spontaneous combustion, Saturn’s need for a foundation as well as a framework can be quite beneficial (if not downright comforting) so apply these overlapping configurations to enable a firm hold on daily life.

The Sun and Uranus are in Aries, a Fire Sign, and Saturn is in Sagittarius, also a Fire Sign—hence this week’s fire theme. Fire Signs are passionate, creative, and deeply committed to what excites their imagination. When planets align in positive and powerful Fire Sign combinations, we experience the potential for burnout, if only because so much passion fuels even more enthusiasm, making it almost impossible to take a break. Do your best to find an even pace.

And be careful not to hold onto anything that’s simply too hot to handle. There’s a new Moon, in Aries, tomorrow at 11:24 AM GMT, and as it joins Uranus throughout the day, many of us are likely to encounter emotionally volatile circumstances. Try not to let your feelings fan the fires or inflame an already potential hot spot. Take a breath—take as many as needed—and then think about long-term solutions rather than short-term gratification. No matter how good it might feel in the moment to mimic Trumpenstein, try not to blurt out the first thing that comes to mind—that thing you always wanted to say and now you’re gonna say it—or indulge in conversations you might later regret. A new Moon is always a good time to plant the seeds of what you want to grow in your personal garden. Use this new Moon to envision a new phase of personal freedom.

This week as daily life heats up, be kind to yourself, your fellow travelers, and all the other sentient beings sharing Planet Earth. Remember: We all thrive on love.

Sun Bursts: If you know your Ascendant and/or your Moon Sign, read that too.

Aries March 21-April 19
You’re not who you once were, and while the new you is still a work in progress, this is the time to take a moment to contemplate just how much has changed. There’s no need to hurry to the finish line—it’s simply important to acknowledge what’s shifted and why.

Taurus April 20-May 20
Give yourself permission to adopt a new internal perspective by examining the tried and true perspectives that keep you shackled to old reactions. Yes…that is a big task, but you’re up to it, especially if you’re determined to find a new attitude that rejects the idea of brooding over anything.

Gemini May 21-June 21
Increased social activity has you busier than expected, and while some of these interactions feel like obligations, the majority of the events are likely to be more fun than work. So even if you’re feeling a little rusty, dust off your innate conversational skills and enjoy the ride.

Cancer June 22-July 22
The new Moon offers several opportunities to push the career reset button, so if you’re looking for a way to reinvent your professional persona, have at it. If you’re not interested in career opportunities, use this phase to contemplate what other activities could provide a sense of personal satisfaction.

Leo July 23-August 22
Try not to be intimidated by what you know you don’t know and instead roll up your sleeves and dig into the new information. Don’t worry about looking “bad”—it’s rare to be judged for being honest and humble. Stay present, show up for what you need to learn, and you’ll be pleased with the outcome.

Virgo August 23-September 22
You’re right: It’s almost too much change to handle at once. But you can do it, especially if you take your time, gather the necessary pieces of the puzzle, and you aren’t in too much of a hurry to solve all the problems. Success is all about finding and maintaining a comfortable pace.

Libra September 23-October 22
Embrace a beginner’s mind and do your best to put aside old attitudes about relationships keeping you mired in habits that no longer work, but you just can’t seem to give up. It would be wise to remember that relating is not a static state; it’s a participatory process that’s always in flux.

Scorpio October 23-November 21
The passion of the week is about letting go of familiar expectations regarding work and instead opening to new opportunities for employment and/or service. Don’t worry—you don’t have surrender what you do best; you simply have to be open to options that might challenge your tried and true assumptions.

Sagittarius November 22-December 21
Acknowledge the need to immerse yourself in creative endeavors and don’t be surprised if you get lost in the process. This phase is about being completely open and honest with your feelings so you can get it all on the page or canvas—you can always edit later.

Capricorn December 22-January 19
The challenge is figuring out how to facilitate an internal switch that will allow greater freedom to explore what you need to feel safe and secure from the inside out. You might experience a flash of insight that creates instant change, or this could be a process that unfolds over time.

Aquarius January 20-February 18
It’s all about dialogue and discussion with significant others about important issues, and while you normally choose your words carefully, you might find yourself blurting out the “truth”—or at least what you’re really feeling. Be patient with yourself and don’t be shy about apologizing—but only when necessary.

Pisces February 19-March 20
It’s still about the money, but beneath your financial concerns—which are important—there’s a bigger issue: How you measure your true value. Take a moment to assess your reservoirs of self-esteem, and then even if you focus on finances, do it from a place of strength and confidence.
