The Aquarium Age: Apr. 29 – May 6

By Ralfee Finn

I won’t lean so far into the positive and proclaim this week to be “a great one”—too much is happening in too many places on the planet to be that optimistic and cheerful. But I will say there is less negative planetary interference this week than we’ve grown accustomed to, and because of that absence of pernicious alliances, we have another week to catch our individual and collective breath and replenish our reserves, internal and external. Use this time wisely, please, because by the end of next week, attitudes will once again bristle, as tempers once again turn testy. But for now we’re still basking in the glow of “not so bad.”

The strength of this week is a Sun/Pluto trine that persists for another two weeks. This is a hardworking interaction that creates the potential for strength and stamina. It also generates a desire for power, so mind your inner despot and be wary of others’ dictatorial dispositions. Even though this interaction is inherently positive, it does foster tyrants, great and small. Use it for hard work of every sort, and do your best to avoid using it to subjugate your competition.

Jupiter squares the Sun for approximately the same amount of time, and while this is not really a fractious interaction—at least not in the way we’ve come to understand hard-hitting squares—it could turn the days and nights just a little edgy with overextension of all varieties. Among its many meanings, Jupiter symbolizes excess and extravagance, and when it clashes with the Sun, the potential to spend too much, drink too much or anything else too much is highly probable. Bear in mind, however, Sun/Jupiter contacts are often about humor, so don’t be surprised if you find yourself laughing at these excesses rather than bemoaning them. And don’t be surprised if the square shows itself through sarcastic or sardonic quips. Be witty, but realize that being the brunt of a joke, especially if it’s shaming, hurts for a very long time.

Mars enters Gemini on May 11, but by May 8, it moves into an opposition to Saturn that is exact and separating on May 15. This is a pernicious interaction, and as its tension builds toward a crescendo, many are sure to struggle with keeping cool. If you’ve made a commitment to making the world a better place through peaceful living, make every effort to reaffirm that commitment now. Starting next week that commitment will grow increasingly difficult to keep.

Also, jumping ahead a few weeks: Mercury Retrograde begins on May 18 at 9:49 EDT. Back up now, please. This is Mercury Retrograde in Gemini, the keeper of data. Fortunately, as Mercury “turns around”, it doesn’t oppose Saturn. That opposition occurs this week, so be prepared for encounters with roadblocks, especially when it comes to information that’s needed for the day-to-day to function well. Back up those passwords, and then back them up again. The retrograde will last until June 11.

Rather than squandering your energy on frivolous matters, conserve your energy this week by only spending it on things that matter most. We aren’t out of the shadows yet, and restoring and replenishing your reservoirs of strength is a must. Enjoy the week by getting ready for the next phase.

Sun Bursts: If you know your Ascendant and/or your Moon Sign, read that too.

Aries March 21-April 19
The light of opportunity continues to illuminate your many gifts and talents, making it wise for you to continue your efforts to seize the moment. Yes, the intensity of this phase will eventually wind down, but the gains you’ve made will not disappear.

Taurus April 20-May 20
You think it is a matter of money, but it isn’t. What you are attempting to sort through is a problem of self-esteem and self-confidence. And while that process is a little disturbing, the good news is that you have plenty of support for believing in yourself, completely and absolutely.

Gemini May 21-June 21
Keep those conversations with significant others going strong. There’s still much to be learned and gained by deepening the dialogue. I’m not suggesting a marathon of talk therapy, but expressing your feelings as you simultaneously encourage those you love to do the same will help facilitate emotional health.

Cancer June 22-July 22
It’s a split screen: On one side, you’re preparing to step into a bright, charismatic light, and even though it is a few days off, you can already feel the attention. On the other side, you’re feeling the need for increased privacy. The only way to reconcile these opposites is to trust your internal rhythm and timing.

Leo July 23-August 22
Your work plate is piled high, and it’s going to take great effort to handle it well and get it all done. Avoid the temptation to hurry through any part of this process. Although completing these various tasks is certain to take more time than you bargained for, the results will be worth the effort.

Virgo August 23-September 22
Prioritize your time, energy, responsibilities and goals so that you are clear about how to proceed over the coming weeks. You’re about to be busier than you can foresee. Gather your energy, and do whatever it is you do to solidify your center and replenish your reserves.

Libra September 23-October 22
It’s time for a long exhale. And while your relationship intensive is not completely finished, there is a noticeable lessening of stress and strain. But rather than put issues aside and pretend that you are “done,” use this time to digest and metabolize what you have learned.

Scorpio October 23-November 21
Conversation is the key to navigating certain situations with significant others, personal or professional. As you work your way through these dialogues, try to stay centered on what the best outcome would be for you as well as for those you love and need.

Sagittarius November 22-December 21
Yes, you are trying to juggle several “plates” at the same time, and yes again, they are wobbling from the strain. But you can handle this process successfully if you concentrate and focus on specific goals. Success is a matter of discipline: Keep breathing, stay centered, and hold steady.

Capricorn December 22-January 19
There are still opportunities to seize the creative moment and express your perspective through a variety of modalities. So don’t hesitate to pick up your pen, paintbrush, camera, or gardening tools. And remember: this is not about producing a commodity. It’s about deepening your awareness of your talents.

Aquarius January 20-February 18
Gather your strength and replenish your reserves now, because soon you won’t have a chance to catch your breath. You’re entering an intensely busy phase that’s sure to require all of your resources. Don’t worry. What lies ahead is not negative—it’s intensely creative.

Pisces February 19-March 20
Stay open to recalibrating your daily routine to accommodate the demands of home and family as well as a strong desire to focus on creating greater internal strength. And although external demands may call, your desire to feel strong from the inside out will dominate your choices.
