February 1-6—Light at the end of the tunnel

By Christopher Renstrom

I’ve heard a lot of talk these past three years of the “promise of change” and that love and abundance is “just on the horizon.” Everyone seems to believe that this change is coming, but I don’t know why I keep holding on to the idea that the clouds will part and that things will become easier. I want to be open, but it’s hard to stay hopeful. Maybe I should just accept life as it is? August 15, 1959.

It sounds like you’re having a bad Leo day which makes perfect sense since the Sun, your Ruler, is now in Aquarius—the sign that sits exactly opposite Leo on the zodiacal wheel. One always feels tired, depressed, vulnerable, and listless when the Sun is traveling through your opposite sign because this is when you are “out of season” astrologically speaking. When you remember that Mars, the planet of energy and drive, is also retrograde in Leo (i.e. moving backwards) then it makes perfect sense that you’d be feeling like you’re getting nowhere fast. But don’t worry because you’re not alone in this. Barack Obama (another Leo) isn’t exactly having an easy time of it either.

The reason you keep holding on to the idea that the clouds will part and that things will be easier is because you’re hard-wired for optimism. It’s in your cosmic DNA. As a Child of the Sun, you can’t help but look on the bright side of life and this is something you should be proud of. It’s easy to be a cynic nowadays, but much more difficult to be an idealist who stands for something greater than the lowest common denominator. This is why Leos are called “lion-hearted”. You possess a nobility and courage that makes you a luminary in a world of lesser lights.

Thankfully there’s a light at the end of the tunnel. On March 10th, Mars will come out of retrograde and start to move forward in your sign again. You should experience a bump in energy and like you’re back on top of your game. This rekindled vitality will build from March through June 6th when Mars departs your sign. On June 5th (the day before Mars leaves Leo), Jupiter—the planet of good fortune and higher purpose—will enter the astrological sign of Aries. Aries is a fire sign (just like Leo) which means that Leos—along with Sagittarians—will be the happy beneficiaries of all this fire trine energy. Not only will prospects brighten but so will your outlook and confidence. Moreover it looks like you may even be able to recover some lost ground over the summer. This sets you up for a terrific 2010 birthday (when you’re back “in season” because it’s summer) while paving the way for a marvelous solar return that peaks in 2011. As you can see this is no time to give up hope because the best is yet to come. Meanwhile do what you can to slog your way through to March 10th. Treat yourself to the things that make you happy and trust in the promise that love and abundance is just around the bend.
