At the turn of the century, women in Salt Lake City created a newspaper suited to their needs and desires. Hence the arrival of the “Woman’s Exponent,” published between 1872 and 1914, which covered everything from domestic affairs to the national women’s suffrage movement. Grab your morning coffee and join us for a glimpse of women’s history through the pages of this unique newspaper.
This panel discussion will be followed by a Q&A.
Women’s Week is an annual, weeklong event focused on the issues and challenges faced by those who identify as female or women. Topics are relevant to today’s socioeconomic and political climate, intersectionality and cultural movements. The theme for Women’s Week 2021 is “Inspiring a Movement.” Events will reflect on the history of women’s political leadership, celebrate women’s contributions to our communities, honor those who have come before us, endeavor to create community and belonging, and facilitate a collective call to action to make the changes that are needed to enact an equitable future.
