Event Description

You are invited to an evening of loving, collaborative work – an opportunity for learning, discussion, introspection, and commitment to celebrate Trans and Nonbinary (TNB) Women and Femmes, and better our communities in the process. TNB Women and Femmes are murdered and assaulted with alarming regularity. There is a pattern of racist and (cis)sexist-motivated violence in our country and culture. We are right to be upset and to grieve this catastrophe. Many of us recognize that something more must be done, and often don’t know what else to do. Let’s gather together to learn what is required of each of us to contribute to a culture that loves and embraces TNB Women and Femmes as an important part of our families.

Gabriella Blanchard is the Interim Director and Coordinator of Education and Outreach at the University of Utah’s LGBT Resource Center and the proud parent of two long-haired queer spawn fighting against oppression the best ways we can. She has a passion for social justice, social healing, trauma-informed community building, centering fem(me)s, and getting away with whatever she can. She is an idealist committed to justice work. She spends much of her personal and professional time engaged in work that disrupts binaries, including those within gender and sexuality. She does this by leading with vulnerability in her facilitation of dialogues, workshops, and, perhaps more importantly, by continuing to thrive in spaces that don’t imagine the possibility of her existence and resistance.
