Lecture: Are International Institutions Compatible With American Sovereignty?

One of the most potent critiques of multilateral organizations and global treaties is that they infringe on American sovereignty, by jeopardizing the nation’s Constitutional independence and placing unacceptable constraints on U.S. freedom of action. How persuasive are these critiques? What can be done to reconcile principles of U.S. sovereignty with the practical need for international cooperation in a world of transnational threats and global opportunities?
