Art Talk: Uta Bekaia in Conversation with Levani

Listen to Wonderland artist, Uta Bekaia, in conversation with his frequent collaborator, Levani a Tbilsi-born New York based transdisciplinary artist.

UTA BEKAIA engages multiple artistic mediums, creating wearable sculptures, performances, and videos, where the borders between the disciplines are blurred, and the cultural references are synthesized in his own, personalized vision. With a background in fashion and costume making in the beginning of his career, Bekaia transformed these mediums into the main means to approach the human body.

LEVANI (Levan Mindiashvili) is Tbilisi-born New York-based transdisciplinary artist who’s creative practice expands to teaching and organizing exhibitions. Uta and Levani worked as creative duo, Uta Levan between 2014 – 2017. Their two person exhibition, Nested in a Place of Becoming, is currently on view at Kunsthalle Tbilisi. Levani’s work is in public collections of the National Art Museum of China, Beijing; Georgian National Museum, Mestia; and Tbilisi Silk Museum, Georgia.
