Ask the Astrologer Weekly Question: Move on with new man, or wait till divorce is final?

By Christopher Renstrom

I am coming to the end of a ten-year (five of which I was married) relationship. I have been dating someone for six months but since my divorce is not yet finalized I have been hesitant to plunge fully into this new relationship. He and I have many differences but we’re also alike in other ways. Future life with him would be a dramatic change from life with my ex—all welcomed; just different (which is scary to me). Should I wait until things are finalized or move ahead? I am very passionate about this man. My birthdate is June 23, 1974. His is October 11, 1958.

You’re a Child of the Moon so you should always follow your feelings. The Moon rules our emotions and in a horoscope it’s the Moon that symbolizes what we feel about ourselves to be true.

But keep in mind that you’re also in a tricky place. You were born under Cancer, the zodiac sign of hearth and home, so you don’t really “date.” In fact you may already be making plans to move in with your new friend. This makes perfect sense for someone who was born under the sign of the Crab. Crabs are famous for moving from one shell to another when they’re looking for a fresh start. But what works for crustaceans doesn’t always work well for humans, so don’t be hurt if he hems and haws about making future plans. He’s not backing out or rejecting you. He’s just trying to figure out the best way to navigate this transitional period.

You’re lucky to be seeing a Libra. Librans are all about relationships so doing what’s best for you will be his top priority. Born under the zodiac sign of the scales, you can rest assured that he will approach everything in a reasonable way. At times he may be too “reasonable” for your tastes (your Moon in Leo makes you more heated and in-the-moment), but you can trust him to see things clearly. Librans have a wonderful way of examining both sides of a situation and he will weigh your feelings—as well as his—in the balance. This careful assessment gives Librans their reputation for vacillating, but that’s not all together accurate. Librans have no problem making up their minds. They can be very judgmental. However Libra is ruled by Venus—the people-pleasing planet—and that’s what makes him go the extra distance to ensure that you’re happy with the outcome— i.e. whether you ultimately stay together or not. And if that outcome is not what you had hoped—then you will at least see that what he’s doing is right by the relationship.

You aren’t going to know what you feel about him (or anyone) until Uranus completes its second square to your Sun in April 2011. You may be single-mindedly focused on him now, but that could change and he knows it. This is why you want to take things one day at a time and see what unfolds. Besides you could use a breather after your ten year relationship and dating a Libra is just the breath of fresh air you need.
