Ask the Astrologer: May 9-15 — Syncing up!

By Christopher Renstrom

I met a woman named Jennifer (2/17/57) on the internet when she lived in Chicago but now she is temporarily helping her mother in Davao City, Philipines. I have had many false starts since I last got divorced in 1978, so tell me what is real. Is this person intended for me or is there someone else? Although I am in a good place, having a mate might make it better. Look forward with interest to your response. Angel (8/01/45).

I think the biggest question I have when I look at yours and Jennifer’s charts is how much time have you two actually spent together in person? You and Jennifer were born in opposite zodiac signs which means that you were born at opposite times of the year. Opposite sign pairing can be exciting, but they can also be challenging too. You can think of opposite zodiac sign pairings as two people sitting across from each other on a see-saw. When one of you is up, the other one is down. This can manifest as an out-of-sync pattern in the relationship so that when one of you is coming the other one is going, when one of you is here the other one is there, when one of you is ready to move forward in the relationship, the other one is unavailable, etc. Now there are plenty of opposite sign pairings that work out successfully—Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are an example—but they can by tricky and they require a lot of time and patience.

My feeling is that things have been in “automatic pilot” since December 2009 and that it’s not until Mars came out of retrograde on March 10, 2010 that you began to seriously assess what kind of future you and Jennifer have together. Now Jennifer looks like she’s been busy caring for her mother, which is understandable, but this could also continue for another year and a half due to Neptune’s prolonged stay in Aquarius. I don’t think you have to put things on hold until then but I do think that you and Jennifer should start spending more time together and that needs to be a higher priority if you want your relationship to grow.

If you can, try to get together in person between May 27, 2010 and June 7, 2010. Planetary shifts in both of your horoscopes show that this would be a very good time to discuss the future of your relationship. You will both be open to test-driving ideas that you might not have been open to otherwise. Again my question isn’t so much whether or not you two would make a good match—you do!—my question has more to do with the choices you need to make to get together and to be a part of each other’s lives. It’s doable if you’re both willing to make the effort, but it really will take effort because it won’t happen by itself. You should really know where things stand by the time that Saturn re-enters Libra on July 26, 2010. Meanwhile I hope things work out between you and Jennifer because your horoscopes truly look nice together.
