Ask the Astrologer: Good time to take a stand?

By Christopher Renstrom

I need to submit some paperwork soon that is very important to my business and my ability to continue helping myself and others.  What’s going on with my future?  Is it a good time to stand up and speak up for my business (which is somewhat controversial)?   2/8/54

I would advise waiting until after Mercury comes out of retrograde on December 29, 2010 to submit your paperwork. The reason for this is that Mercury is the planet of communications, sales, contracts, and licenses and when it is retrograde (i.e. moving backwards in the sky) it works against itself. This is why many astrologers advise against making any big decisions or purchases during this period. There is an increase in miscommunications, technical errors, and mishandled merchandise when Mercury is traveling backwards. This would apply to any sort of paperwork in general.

Meanwhile I’m not sure what you mean by “standing up and speaking for your business (which is somewhat controversial).” Are you advocating? Defending? Promoting? Reforming? These sound very “Mars” in tone and indeed you were born with one of your Ruling Planets, Saturn, in Scorpio. This is a very sensitive area of your horoscope right now given the recent Venus retrograde in Scorpio.

Venus, the planet of harmony, pledges, and agreements does not do well when she is traveling through Scorpio. You may have experienced a lot of disappointment, conflicts, and maybe even betrayal since this energy began coursing through your horoscope in October 2010. That’s why it’s important not to get retaliatory now. Impatience and anger could lead you to lash out at a time when you really need others’ cooperation. Moreover it looks like you need the cooperation of people who appear to be set against you. This could be a competitive associate, a boss whom you feel just doesn’t support you, or a faceless and slow-moving organization. You really do require their help—and you can get it as long as you follow procedure and welcome their advice and input—but it means working according to their timetable and not yours.

Just because people don’t get what you do right away doesn’t mean that they won’t sign on eventually. One of the difficulties with being born under the zodiac sign of Aquarius is that you often feel like you’re introducing ideas that are ahead of their time. This is always tricky because it isn’t easy to tell how ahead of its time that idea may be. If it’s too ahead of its time, then it won’t take. People will just be dumbfounded and perplexed. But if it’s just a little ahead of its time then your idea will be seen as exciting and innovative. My feeling is that you if you focus on bringing light rather than heat to the situation—that is if you focus on educating people in what you do and why it’s important rather than fighting for what you think is right—then you will start to win support for your cause after January 22, 2011. It will take until April 2011 to see if you’re winning as many people over to your side as you need, so you really must set your sights on the long-term and not on immediate results.
