Aquarium Age: October 17-23

By Ralfee Finn

Parallel universes continue to collide this week and the fallout from these physical and psychic collisions continues to be crazy-making. The good news is that for the next couple of days there’s a possibility of uplift, as the alternate astral realities of imagination and independence converge. While this combination isn’t necessarily smooth or calm, it’s still worth every attempt to ride that wind, if only because it has the power to inspire a new approach to a persistent problem: how to deal with the soul-crushing effect of Trump World.

A Mercury/Neptune trine provides the power of imagination. Mercury, signifying all the dimensions of the mind, is in Scorpio. Neptune, signifying the sympathetic resonances that unite everything, is in Pisces, its Home Sign, a placement that amplifies the awareness of our interconnectedness. Trines symbolize a powerful, mutually supportive connection, and the entire aggregation represents intuitive, intellectual perception that has the capacity to reach into and explore the imaginal realms. Because both Scorpio and Pisces are Water Signs, those wanderings are deeply felt, and as many know, the key to manifesting your vision is feeling its reality. Anticipate inspiration flooding the day-to-day with impressions of what might be or even what could have been—this is a poignant current that flows through and enlivens memories and dreams, past, present, and future.

In contrast to the boundlessness of that Mercury/Neptune trine, a Sun/Uranus opposition feeds the need to break free from whatever enslaves, be it person, place, idea, or simply the stubborn resistance to change of any kind. The opposition starts this week, is exact and separating on October 23, and finally ends on October 30—and its presence is going to color all interactions, individual and collective, personal or professional for the next couple of weeks. As part of this opposition, the Sun moves forward from Libra into Scorpio. Uranus is retrograde at 0° Taurus, on its way back into Aries, which it enters on election day. As both the Sun and Uranus oppose each other in Fixed Signs—the Signs that don’t let go—many of us are likely to entrench even more into deeply held positions.

Pay attention: This opposition fuels freedom fighters, with or without a cause, and because these times are already prickly with political polarization, we are likely to see increased tension devolve into violence. Make an extra effort to be thoughtful and kind, even if you disagree with what’s being said. I am not suggesting passivity. I’m warning that given the zeitgeist and continuing efforts on the part of Republicans to rile their base, the potent power of this Sun/Uranus opposition needs to be handled skillfully.

The last weeks and months have been nearly unbearable—so much has been done so purposefully to harm so many that it’s been impossible to imagine that this madness will eventually end. But imagine it we must because despair is also a weapon. A broken spirit loses hope that it will ever heal, and we need hope to envision a future free from the demons of hatred and cruelty. While we must confront those demons in our own lives as we help others to quell their own, we must also confront the demon of despair and find hope even in the midst of the madness.

Sun Bursts: If you know your Ascendant and/or your Moon Sign, read that too.

Aries March 21-April 19
In many ways you are the torchbearer, lighting the way so that others can travel with greater ease. The difficulty of the moment is blazing a trail that permits you to stay true to yourself as you simultaneously make every effort to include others, even those with differing values. Identify those heroes who have faced a similar challenge, and then allow those examples to guide your way.

Taurus April 20-May 20
Your personal journey continues to be about partnerships, personal and professional, and this next phase focuses on envisioning a relationship that’s based on what a friend of mine calls “co-independence”— when two people feel confident enough in their mutual affection to maintain their individual pursuits. Sounds like a wonderful way to imagine all relationships.

Gemini May 21-June 21
The powerful urge for freedom doesn’t have to be quite as disruptive as you imagine—it is possible to break free from negative ties that bind without harming those who rely on your ability to manage day-to-day routines. So take a deep breath and visualize what your day would look like if you weren’t managing an extraordinary amount of extra responsibilities.

Cancer June 22-July 22
It’s all about choice: You can worry over imagined obstacles and failures or you can adopt an objective perspective that will provide a way to look at the long-term results of your efforts. Yes, your intuition may be telling you one thing but don’t use that information to ignore the facts. Gathering the necessary data will set your imagination free to envision the best possible outcome.

Leo July 23-August 22
While you have a reputation for enjoying the spotlight that doesn’t necessarily mean you always need to be the center of attention. Indeed, right now you’re wrestling with just how public you want to be. You can actually be shy at times, so contemplate why you’re shy some times or seeking the spotlight other times. There’s plenty to learn about what you truly desire.

Virgo August 23-September 22
It’s never easy finding a balance between the microcosm and the macrocosm of any situation, but that’s what you have to do. I know you think this should be the horoscope for Libra, but it’s for you because you’re encountering a lot of mental interference and you need clarity. Identify the important themes first and see how they manifest at each level. Make observations; avoid judgments.

Libra September 23-October 22
It’s not quite so easy as abracadabra, but it’s close, because all you have to do is imagine what it is you want to create and then feel the authenticity of that creation. Okay—it’s not instantaneous manifestation. Nevertheless, you can only create what you can envision, which is why imagination is key to your success. Keep refining your vision; each adjustment brings you closer to perfection.

Scorpio October 23-November 21
The challenge is having the courage to be all you, all the time, without apologies, explanations, or excuses. And while your first reaction may be “no problem,” living authentically isn’t always easy. Don’t be surprised if there are more than a few times that little white lies are easier to tell than speaking your truth. Just keep in mind that speaking your truth gets easier with time.

Sagittarius November 22-December 21
It is all about mood management and how to handle the swell of emotions that arise throughout the day and you can’t always manage to calm down until you finally fall asleep. The best way through these waves is to remember that feelings are like the tides of the sea—they rise and fall with their own rhythm. Learn to let them flow and eventually their power will recede.

Capricorn December 22-January 19
The best way through this convergence of imagination and independence would be caution. This is about paying attention to the consequences of your actions—not because you are in danger, but because you are putting things in motion and you want to have a clear intention. There’s no need for worry or concern; I’m simply advising a mindful approach to thought, word, and deed.

Aquarius January 20-February 18
If you can, listen to the Beatles’ song, “The Fool on the Hill,” not so much because it describes your existential moment with great precision, but because it conveys an ease that you could use to help you make sense of your situation and figure out an appropriate response to a challenge you’re currently facing. The fool may live in our imagination, but sometimes that ain’t such a bad thing.

Pisces February 19-March 20
For you, dear Pisces, living in your imagination is easy—it’s the land of make- believe and daydreams, a place to escape to, especially when you’re bored or exhausted. Lately there have been too many challenges to your internal and external sense of wellbeing and that’s kept you from dipping into the well of your imagination. Seize this moment and make time to dream—it will make you feel much better.
