Aquarium Age

The Aquarium Age: Nov. 1-6

By Ralfee Finn

A bristling mood rides the routines of daily life this week, so don’t be surprised if lots of folks—including yourself—are more than a little prickly. Also anticipate that most of us will feel the need to break free from restraints, real or imagined. And because idealism, with all of its expectations, is also a theme this week, you can expect disappointment to be a source of some of those raised hackles—just be careful, some of those spikes could have thorns, especially if dreams fail to manifest according to plans. We’re nearing the end of a very long year, a year that has tried many souls to the point of exhaustion, and not just because so many are suffering from Trump Fatigue, a new existential disorder listed in the DSM as PTTD, or Post Traumatic Trump Disorder, the main symptom of which is waking up each morning and wondering what awful thing happened overnight or is about to happen next. It’s also been a long, overwhelming year of physical hardship and devastating loss for just too many people. And even if you are fortunate and not facing a physical challenge from a hurricane, earthquake, fire, flood, war, or ethnic cleansing, the psychic air on Planet Earth is so heavy with the suffering of others that only Herculean strength could make you impervious to the effect of so much grief—and the year’s not over. Do your best to do what’s healthy for you and those you love. It’s important to stay buoyed and supported physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

The source of the bristle and prickle of the week is an opposition between the Moon, in Aries, and Mars, in Libra. The Moon represents the emotional body. Mars symbolizes a fighting spirit. Oppositions signify tension in search of an outlet. And because Mars rules Aries, and lots of us need to blow off steam, and Aries is about individual will, and because Libra is all about relating, this opposition ignites trouble spots in partnerships already struggling to hold it together. The good news is that this fire also has the potential to illuminate creative solutions to persistent negative issues—but only if those involved are willing to admit and examine stagnant areas—and shift them through positive action. The very best news is that it’s over quickly—by Friday, for sure—unless it has illuminated areas of concern that can no longer be ignored.

But that’s not all. Venus, in Libra (her Home Sign), opposes Uranus, in Aries, all week long. Venus is the goddess of love and beauty. Uranus is the rebel, with or without a cause. And when these two forces oppose each other all sorts of sparks fly, igniting erotic and amorous urges. Unfortunately, this opposition indicates more separating than uniting, particularly if there are hurdles to overcome—real or imagined. This opposition is also decidedly creative, which means there is a high potential for transformative solutions. Just be aware that the Moon joins this opposition on Thursday into Friday and that’s sure to ramp up emotional bodies.

The Sun, in Scorpio, trines Neptune, in Pisces, feeding an idealistic attitude (something people suffering from PTTD might not be able to embrace wholeheartedly). Nevertheless, this is a powerful alliance that creates the potential for spiritual pursuits that nourish the soul through altruistic endeavors. Of course, in this new age of selfishness those actions may not be all that easy to put into motion—but it is not impossible.

This Sun/Neptune trine can also amplify sensitivities, making even the most reserved among us highly sentimental and…well…deeply delicate, so when you are making those Uranian declarations of independence, be careful not to say things that might lodge like brainworms in the minds of your adversaries. Sometimes blowing off steam is healthy, but it can also be harmful. The really good news about the Sun/Neptune trine is that it feeds a desire for spiritual pursuits. Use this powerful energy to deepen your meditation practice or intensify your spiritual search.

All month long there is a trine between Saturn and Uranus. This is a powerful configuration that signifies indefatigability, a dogged determination that won’t give up. Because this is a positive interaction, we are likely to see many reinvigorated to overcome and survive awful situations. Our fellow travelers in Puerto Rico, Northern California, Houston, Florida, and too many places in the Caribbean are all struggling to cobble life back together, a process that requires an unrelenting effort, as does the life of a refugee, a survivor of war and any other sentient being on every continent on the Planet Earth who has been displaced from the safety and shelter of a home—a place to come to rest. While Saturn does symbolize stability, Uranus represents sudden and startling plot twists, which means that in the midst of its positive signature, we could be in for a few more surprises.

As the week unfolds, try not to get snagged by the prickle and bristle of the week. Take your stand if you must, but try to be compassionate—and that does not translate into being apologetic for your point of view. It simply means stating your truth without having to harm the other person. Compassion isn’t always nice. But it also doesn’t have a charge. And that’s an important distinction to make as we move into the final weeks of an extraordinarily difficult and polarized year.

Sun Bursts: If you know your Ascendant and/or your Moon Sign, read that too.

Aries March 21-April 19
Not everyone will be able to handle the tension of the week, so even if it feels as if you are being singled out—you’re not. Refuse to engage in negative name-calling. This phase is about coming to terms with what your relationship expectations, and that includes all kinds of partnerships: spouses, lovers, friends, co-workers, and…yes…strangers.

Taurus April 20-May 20
You’re tempted to blame it on others, and certainly others played a part and should take responsibility. But you also contributed to the mess. Taking responsibility for your part will start to ease the tension, so even if you are resistant to the process, ask yourself this question: What is my spirit trying to learn from this? Just asking will open up a fresh perspective.

Gemini May 21-June 21
You’re already frazzled and feeling pulled in several directions simultaneously, so it’s no wonder you’re feeling overworked and overwhelmed. Here’s the good news: There’s plenty of energy to handle everything. Here’s the most important news: Utilizing that energy requires taking care of yourself before you take care of anything else. Translation: good food, plenty of sleep and lots of fun.

Cancer June 22-July 22
The tension plays out as a conflict between work/professional and home/personal responsibilities. Yes, it seems to be an ongoing saga, but it’s important to realize that each episode is its own thread. And when you gather all the threads of this process, you’ll discover that you’ve been weaving a pattern that synthesizes those two areas into a much bigger picture.

Leo July 23-August 22
Your first impulse is to focus on the tension, but if you wait it out, you’ll discover that the tension is masking a much deeper opportunity. All that’s required is your commitment to self-expression and creativity. Of course, that isn’t as easy as it sounds, but once you make the commitment it just gets easier and easier.

Virgo August 23-September 22
Give yourself permission to chatter away, even if what you’re talking about isn’t significant, because sometimes just talking through the basics can give us a much better understanding of what we are experiencing but haven’t been able to articulate. And once we can grasp what’s really going on, we can talk about all sorts of things that are deep as well deeply satisfying.

Libra September 23-October 22
Of course the emphasis is on relationship, but with a slightly different twist. There are opportunities for you to have serious, sober and meaningful conversations with significant others about significant matters. And even though some of what’s said pushes the envelope and has you treading on increasingly thin ice, there’s a strong indication of a positive resolution.

Scorpio October 23-November 21
Despite the stresses and strains, you’re still reveling in Jupiter’s move into your Sign—and you should, because these days celebrating something good for as long as we can is a necessity. Enjoy the Planet of good fortune, knowing you’re also in a stable financial phase for at least the next several weeks that offers opportunities to make tangible gains.

Sagittarius November 22-December 21
Before you get embroiled in an oppositional stance that sucks away all your vim and vigor, step back and take a look at the situation from a different perspective. You might find that a different view shifts your thinking about solutions, and with that shift, you might also discover innovative systems that you could put in place to facilitate similar shifts for others.

Capricorn December 22-January 19
Yes, there is still a fair bit of tension between work and home, and yes again, you would like to lash out, but harsh words and judgmental finger pointing won’t solve the problem. The best way to handle these bristles is to stay focused on what needs to be done and apply your best efforts to seeing it through to completion.

Aquarius January 20-February 18
Rather than focus on all the things that are wrong, shift your attention to all the things that are going well. This is a dynamic time for you professionally as well as creatively, and although the world seems to be tumbling through turmoil daily, your situation ain’t that bad. I’m not suggesting being selfish in the face of adversity; I’m simply advising you to be grateful for your situation.

Pisces February 19-March 20
The tension could express itself as a financial crisis—and it may well be a matter of too much or too little. But it could also reveal a crisis in values that you were either previously unaware of or trying to avoid. The best way through is to acknowledge all the feelings—or all the bills—and let that honest assessment move you into an equally forthright solution.
