Aquarium Age

Aquarium Age: May 1 – 7

By Ralfee Finn

This is a good week to take a deep breath and ask what kind of story you’re telling yourself and the world at this particular moment in time and space, when so many stories—personal and planetary—are converging so quickly that daily life is a fairy-tale universe one moment, replete with dragons and dwarfs, heroines and heroes; and a ring of hell that Dante never could have imagined in the next; or perhaps a lyric from one of Bob Dylan’s early songs—think: It’s Alright Ma (I’m Only Bleeding)—come to life. Or maybe you’re channeling the King from the King and I, and answering every question (yours and others’) with: “It’s a puzzlement.” (Here’s a link to Yul Brynner asking/singing similar questions to the ones we are wrestling with today. While it’s a little hokey, quaint, out-of-date, and probably politically incorrect, it is nevertheless still amazingly relevant: www.youtube.com/watch?v=9u5iHzag120

It might be that your story changes hour by hour (some days, the story line shifts so quickly and the plot takes so many twists and turns, I can’t figure out what story I’m in) and by the end of our day you’re more confused than you were when it started. The lines delineating dimensions are dissolving and that dissolution requires a broad enough perspective to embrace even what hasn’t yet manifested. It’s a puzzlement, but it is also the hard, soul-forging work of consciousness, and no matter how intensely you resist this process, resistance is futile. We’re in a rapidly shifting interdimensional evolutionary process and most of the time managing the shifts between realities just sucks. Straddling several universes simultaneously is disorienting and discombobulating.

This week, the emphasis on storytelling is fueled by a trine between Mercury, in Aries, and Jupiter, in Sagittarius, a fiery astral combination that feeds bold and dramatic tales of adventure and courage. It doesn’t last long, so make the most of it while you can; from banter to polemic, this positive interaction feeds the imagination. By the time this positive alliance ends on the weekend, Venus, also in Aries, moves into a trine with retrograde Jupiter, and her presence turns many of those stories romantic with a lusty passion. This should be fun.

Both Mercury and Venus will square the ongoing Saturn/Jupiter conjunction in Capricorn, so anticipate that some of the stories you’re telling or listening to are likely to delve into the shadows of power and control. This entire bundle should make for some interesting revelations.

But that’s not all: Mars, in Gemini, opposes Jupiter and the tension between these two Titans could spark a need to clear the air. Just be wary of your motivation. Sometimes a Mars/Jupiter opposition can feed the need to exaggerate or bend the truth to your own point of view—hmm… where have we seen that recently? (This opposition sits right on the Sun/Moon opposition in Mr. Trump’s natal chart—so the tension is going to drive him even more crazy. Oy!) The Mars/Jupiter opposition can also fuel an urge to rage against the machine, and while there might be good cause for doing so, that tension could also manifest as the need to rage for its own sake.

The emphasis on Jupiter has several positive possibilities for the week, but the most important one, after Jupiter’s penchant for hope, is its devotion to humor, even if it’s gallows humor. Be appropriate, of course, if only to be mindful of other people’s feelings, but also do your best to find what’s funny. Whether it’s irony, slapstick, or a revival of stupid pet tricks, do your best to laugh at life’s challenges. Laughter is Jupiter’s domain, and laughing heals a multitude of wounds.

As always, be kind to your fellow travelers—we need each other more than we know and our shared need should be a chapter in everyone’s story.

Sun Bursts: If you know your Ascendant and/or your Moon Sign, read that too.

Aries March 21-April 19
The Moon moves into your Sign today and its presence is likely to stir passionate feelings—just what you need when you’re doing your best to stay calm, cool, and collected. Never mind the emotional intensity—stick to your plan of taking personal responsibility for what you’re doing in the moment and you’ll handle the increased intensity with skill.

Taurus April 20-May 20.
Your week carries a fair degree of financial tension and while some of the stress is unavoidable, I wouldn’t allow it to interfere with the real progress you’re making toward your career goals. Yes, there have been setbacks as well as surprising twists of fate, but that doesn’t mean you’re failing to actualize your dreams. It simply means you are going to have to work harder to keep it real.

Gemini May 21-June 21
Try not to let stressful interactions with significant others spoil your plans and efforts for meaningful contact with those you love and work with. It won’t be easy softening your stance—you have a lot to say and it’s important and necessary to express yourself. But it’s also important to listen to others carefully so you can truly hear what’s being said and make the necessary adjustments.

Cancer June 22-July 22
Whether you’re working for yourself or someone else, gainfully employed or seeking employment, actively engaged in career pursuits or retired, be open to telling yourself a different story about work. I’m not suggesting unrealistic plans for expansion or fear of financial contraction. I’m advising that a shift into a fresh perspective will provide opportunities for successful endeavors.

Leo July 23-August 22
The story you’re looking for is one that helps you connect your creative endeavors to a larger community that appreciates your participation. As you search, be sure your story contains your efforts to succeed as well as your innate generosity of spirit—be happy for those in your life who have already achieved their goals and you’ll create a positive field for your own success.

Virgo August 23-September 22
So many stories are yours for the telling that it’s hard for you to know which one to focus on first. Take a moment to see what you are passionately drawn to and then pay particular attention to the obstacles that immediately impede your vision. Those obstacles are the issues that need a new story—one that is positive, powerful, and makes you proud to tell it.

Libra September 23-October 22
You’re definitely telling yourself—and anyone else that will listen—a new story about relationships, especially about your relationship with yourself. So take a deep breath and get ready to create a tale that rivals the adventures of brave Ulysses. Try not to limit yourself to the distant past—the last few years have been a wild exploration of what partnership means, and you survived, which is a tale all its own.

Scorpio October 23-November 21
You can focus on money, and if you do, please also read Taurus, above. But also include this: Your desire to work trumps any obstacles, financial or other, because once you make up your mind to get the job done, very little, if anything, can deter you from your goal. You’re like the postman: Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays this courier from getting the job done.

Sagittarius November 22-December 21
It’s simply a matter of choice: tell yourself a sad story resembling Sisyphus’ fate, a story of toil and labor, or tell yourself a story of joy and the thrill of being alive at a time with so many options and opportunities. I’m not suggesting a magical story that denies reality. I am suggesting that perspective is everything—remember, the universe rearranges itself to accommodate our picture of reality.

Capricorn December 22-January 19
You’ve done a great job thus far—it isn’t easy handling the presence of a Saturn/Pluto conjunction. As today’s Aries Moon pounds that conjunction, you’re tempted to tell a different tale, and maybe a woe-is-me story about how hard it is. You can tell that story of suffering, or you can continue to ask: “what is my spirit is trying to learn from these difficulties?” and continue to grow.

Aquarius January 20-February 18
Give yourself permission to have intimate conversations with those you love and as you do, to go for the gusto—speak from your heart and don’t be afraid to express your feelings, even if they are uncomfortable. The story you ultimately want to tell is a story of love; sometimes that can include difficult subjects, but more often than not honesty always evokes a positive response.

Pisces February 19-March 20
You can continue to tell the story of conflict between work and home, but it won’t resonate with the same effect, if only because you’ve outgrown it. Spend some time thinking about the tale you would like to tell—a new story about cooperation and teamwork around creating a healthy home where everyone’s efforts are appreciated and valued.
