Aquarium Age: March 13 – 19, 2019

By Ralfee Finn

There’s a slight lessening of intensity this week—slight, but nonetheless felt. Uranus, the planet of shift, spent the last several weeks turning up the heat under the collective caldron, and now that it has moved out of Aries (March 6) and into Taurus (also March 6), the fiery intensity of the last several weeks diminishes. Notably, Uranus is not in direct contact with any other planet until March 22, when it begins forming a sextile to Venus that is exact on March 26. This sextile is a mild interaction that’s not likely to reveal any major clues about how the transit of Uranus through Taurus will manifest. Given that Venus is Uranus’ daughter, their relationship should amplify the positive nature of the coming sextile, but since it doesn’t begin until next week, even a hint of its signature remains elusive.

Meanwhile, we still have to manage Mercury Retrograde, which began its “backward” glance on March 5 and continues reviewing its previous path until March 28. Mercury Retrograde provides its own brand of intensity as it seemingly slows down the pace of daily life and invites us to review and reflect on what’s already been set in motion. For some, this might be an extraordinarily boring process, but for others, Mercury Retrograde is an opportunity to comb through the details of plans and projects with an eye toward untying knots and removing obstacles that might be inhibiting smooth forward motion. It’s futile to resist this review, so don’t waste a moment wishing it away—just embrace it and get on with it.

In spite of the Mercury Retrograde effect, there’s lots of support for doing whatever it takes to keep moving forward. Mars, in Taurus, trines both Saturn and Pluto, which are moving closer together in Capricorn—they are now within 4° of each other—and when these three planets work together, almost any goal can be accomplished. Mars symbolizes strength, will power, and the physical muscle behind determination. Saturn symbolizes the muscle of discipline and the ability to work on perfecting our efforts. Pluto… well… Pluto is the most powerful planet of all—it’s the creative muscle that enhances all endeavors—physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.

These three mighty muscles of success—Mars, Saturn, and Pluto—all sextile the Sun in Pisces. This triple sextile infuses inspiration and imagination into this already positive yet strident alliance. Pisces is a highly intuitive Sign, with the power to soften the edges of Mars, Saturn, and Pluto—all masculine planets, although Pluto can also manifest feminine energy. That softening could help many of us to embrace a lighter touch, especially when it comes to pushing forward on a personal agenda.

Don’t be surprised if your brain feels like mush this week—Mercury is retrograde in Pisces, which has the potential to obscure logic and encourage intuition. Don’t get me wrong; I’m not implying that intuition leads to a lack of clarity. So many of us have been trying for so long to make sense of our mixed-up-muddled-up-shook-up-world that this Mercury Retrograde has the feel of a mental vacation. I’m not advising checking out, but I am suggesting that it might be a good time to let go of the need to understand everything.

Meditation is a Neptunian pursuit that won’t turn the mind to mush. So when possible try to take as many moments as you can to focus on your breath. And as always, try to be kind to your fellow travelers. Everyone is feeling the intensity and all of us could use a little tenderness.

Sun Bursts: If you know your Ascendant and/or your Moon Sign, read that too.

Aries March 21-April 19
Adopt a mindset that will help you gain greater self-awareness. Just don’t let that process turn into an exercise that only looks for what’s wrong. Use this retrograde phase to examine the negative habits that need to change, but also explore how you can accentuate the positive and bolster your spirit.

Taurus April 20-May 20.
It’s a great time to attune to your intuition and see if you can sharpen your skill. You don’t have to start reading astrological charts or tarot cards; you simply have to pay attention to your impressions and notice the different qualities of information you’re receiving. Take your time with this process and you’ll gather good results.

Gemini May 21-June 21
It’s an emotional week, so don’t be surprised if your cup runneth over with feelings you can no longer contain. Not every emotion needs to be expressed, but if talking your feelings through with someone helps, by all means have at it. You don’t have to share with a therapist, but you might want to.

Cancer June 22-July 22
While the first definition of integrity is honesty, integrity also means wholeness. As you move through the week, contemplate how these definitions are related. What makes you whole? How does a conscious coherence between thought, word, and deed enhance authenticity?

Leo July 23-August 22
I never tire of reminding myself of the first rule of magic: whatever you focus your attention on becomes your reality. Try to keep that in mind, because as the coming weeks unfold, even if you aren’t new putting plans in motion, your thoughts are still busy creating their eventual manifestation in reality.

Virgo August 23-September 22
Mercury Retrograde is focused on relationships with significant others—past, present, and future. As you move through this emotional retrospective be sure to include your relationship with yourself. How you care for yourself includes both how you care for others as well as how you expect those you love to care for you.

Libra September 23-October 22
Call “time out” on negativity—your own or others’—and be sure to include thoughts, words, and deeds. I’m not suggesting you turn off your awareness. I’m suggesting that there’s a difference between observation, discernment, and the need to judge others as a way of bolstering your self-confidence.

Scorpio October 23-November 21
Despite Mercury Retrograde snafus, your life is moving in a new direction and part of that new roadmap includes meeting new people and making new contacts. Don’t worry about losing any opportunities along the way. There will be plenty of time cultivate these connections in the weeks and months ahead.

Sagittarius November 22-December 21
Take a nice long look at where you’ve been, where you are, and where you would like to be and use this retrograde retrospective to see if you can discern patterns you’d like to discard or refine. Pay particular attention to your living situation: benign neglect probably isn’t going to serve you going forward.

Capricorn December 22-January 19
My hunch is that you’re overextended—you are, after all, the one who shoulders responsibilities without being asked and that often leads to taking on too much. The solution is not necessarily saying no; your remedy may be as simple as asking others for help—teamwork can sometimes work wonders.

Aquarius January 20-February 18
Read Leo, your counterpart, and add this: You cannot create what you can’t envision. Focus precisely on what it is you want to manifest and be sure to focus on the details—specificity is key to the full realization of your goals. Then feel the reality of your vision as if it has already come into being.

Pisces February 19-March 20
You don’t have to remind others just how much you’ve changed, you need to remind yourself, especially if you start sliding into a default setting. Old habits are comfortable and comforting, even when we know they don’t work. Make it a point to stay aware and you’ll avoid backsliding into patterns that no longer serve.
