The Aquarium Age: June 14-20

By Ralfee Finn

The regular routines of daily life continue to fade away as the status quo continues to evaporate. And even though the airwaves continue to broadcast disturbing news about our collective condition, it’s not all bad news. The anomaly of Trump continues to stir equally unprecedented responses of consciousness as well as conscience to the damage being done. And if you search beyond the headlines of the latest lies, there are surprising responses to persistent problems and harmful situations that previously had been just too much to tackle. The wake-up emergency alarm that’s been blaring from Trump and his supporters is actually waking people up—and that’s a good thing. Yes…the dissolution of the status quo is disturbing, but nothing shifts until enough people move into compassionate action—and the number of individuals rising to that occasion is growing. For example: artforjusticefund.org/

Of course, perspective and perception determine how we view the unfolding celestial and terrestrial patterns. Several readers wrote in response to last week’s column that consciousness is the key to transformation, and of course I agree. While I may have been a little late out of the gate, I am increasingly determined to view the current collective mess as a profound collective healing crisis. And a crucial juncture of every healing crisis is a return to the point of origin that set the illness in motion. Mr. Trump and his cohort of hungry ghosts symbolize (as one reader suggested) both the symptoms and the disease. I’ve often written that they represent the white man’s last stand, and now they have returned to power with a renewed determination to dismantle all the progress the rest of us have made. They are emblematic of what set injustice in motion: a complete ignorance of and disregard for our fundamental interconnectedness. And that ignorance is so undeniable that it has catalyzed vast numbers of previously complacent people into action.

From an astrological point of view, the current state of turmoil on this planet can be seen as a consequence of the last nearly ten years of fractious planetary interactions among the celestial agents of change:

(1) Pluto moved into Capricorn in January 2008, retrograding back and forth until December of that year. Pluto symbolizes all the aspects of life we have no control over, including the process of death and rebirth, as well as the myriad unconscious forces that inform the process of daily life, individual and collective. Capricorn is the Sign of corporations, government, authorities, and all the structures—large and small, good and bad—that hold the realities of daily life in place. Since Pluto’s transit through Capricorn began we have witnessed Pluto’s inexorable power to reveal the hidden forces affecting what we once viewed as stable societal structures. Pluto’s journey through Capricorn begins to end in 2023. But it is in 2020 that we will feel the full effect of this transit through a Saturn/Pluto conjunction.  But more about the significance of that conjunction in future columns.

(2) The destabilization process that began with Pluto’s entry into Capricorn was intensified by a series of five Saturn/Uranus oppositions that began November 4, 2008, Election Day in the United States, and persisted until July 26, 2010. Saturn/Uranus interactions are always about the dissolution of the status quo. Barack Obama’s presidency signified the dissolution of the status quo, as did the ensuing financial crisis of those years. Yet little was done to replace the nefarious financial structures that destroyed the lives of so many of our fellow travelers.

(3) From June 2012 through March 2015 we endured seven Uranus/Pluto squares. Uranus/Pluto interactions are infamous for stirring the caldron of revolution and highlighting all the issues of social justice. And during those years so much—maybe even too much—of what needed to shift, both individually and collectively, blared across every media outlet from television to tablets to social media to smartphones, making it impossible to ignore what needed to change. But that barrage of information also made it impossible to deny the resistance to those movements, a resistance born of fear and ignorance that fomented so much rage. That resistance found its voice in the election of Mr. Trump, who is the preeminent symbol of the forces resisting the next inevitable evolutionary leap in consciousness. He is also a symbol for all the forces seeking to exploit the fear, ignorance and rage of that resistance.

And here we are in the aftermath of nearly ten years of astrological tsunamis—but we are not yet at the end of these tidal waves of transformation. And the undertow continues to churn beneath the oceans of collective consciousness.

This week, Saturn and Uranus continue to catalyze the status quo, only instead of a fractious interaction, their alignment is positive. The first exact trine in this cycle occurred on December 25, 2016, the day before the first exact Jupiter/Uranus opposition. (You remember that one: it kept us on a seesaw for nearly three months.) The second exact Saturn/Uranus trine took place on May 19, 2017 and the final exact contact is November 11, 2017. This week, although not exact, they are still close enough to exert influence. One could make the astrological argument that Mr. Comey’s testimony is a positive manifestation of the dissolution of the status quo, given that a Director of the FBI seldom speaks publicly with such candor.

Saturn opposes the Sun this week, and while this interaction is normally seen as a spirit-squelching combination, because Uranus simultaneously sextiles the Sun, the inhibiting effect of Saturn is diminished. Uranus is, after all, the principle of spontaneity and freedom, and when it combines with the Sun, which is the essence of spirit, the need to express cannot be denied, not even by Saturn’s stern glare.

Also, we are entering into a Mars/Neptune trine, which begins this week and ends at the end of the month. This is a highly empathetic alliance that stimulates hypersensitivity and the urge to merge. Used without skill, this interaction can cause all sorts of boundary issues. Used with skill, it can facilitate the ability to step into a different point of view and see the world through the eyes of another. Let it guide you into an even more compassionate attitude toward yourself as well as your fellow travelers.

Sun Bursts: If you know your Ascendant and/or your Moon Sign, read that too.

Aries March 21-April 19Magic is definitely possible, especially if you are willing to let go of the need to control the outcome and instead trust the universe to deliver what’s appropriate and maybe even necessary for your well-being. This sounds like a trust exercise because it is—so just let go and
allow the situation to unfold.

Taurus April 20-May 20
Venus, your Ruling Planet, is in your Sign, strengthening your innate sense of beauty as well as your appreciation of love. She symbolizes what you treasure most deeply. Allow her to help you uphold your personal values—what matters most to you—and you will continue to inspire others to do the same.

Gemini May 21-June 21
Seek out the counsel of friends and listen carefully to what’s said, even if you don’t agree with the information. If you have a charge on anything, pay closer attention. Often what we have the strongest reaction to is what we most need to consider—and the details aren’t as important as the chord they strike.

Cancer June 22-July 22
There are real possibilities for you to make actual, tangible financial gains but only if you are willing to be grounded, practical and diligent in all you do. I’m not saying you haven’t been working hard. I’m just suggesting that if you merge your intention with your attention, you’ll make the progress you desire.

Leo July 23-August 22
You’re going through a portal that allows you to leave the struggles of the past behind as you simultaneously embrace a new perspective that is unencumbered by negative history. It’s not quite a clean slate—that’s not really possible—but it is enough of a new view to give birth to a new attitude.

Virgo August 23-September 22
The key to your success lies in your ability to find the funny in your current situation and then allowing humor to get you out of a tight spot. I don’t mean to imply that the situation isn’t serious—it most definitely is. But finding the solution requires opening your heart and laughter is the key to that process.

Libra September 23-October 22
Objectivity is required, which means you must work through your bias, even if that means letting go of a tried and true position. This is about using your mind to set you free from old ideas that are blinding you to reality. So swallow your pride, put aside the need to be right, and grow past emotional limitations.

Scorpio October 23-November 21
You’d like to hide away and hermitize, but you’re hyper-aware that you’re the midst of synthesizing past, present and future. Don’t give up—there are loads of benefits at the end of this phase, especially if you’re willing to work on lessening your weaknesses and improving your strengths.

Sagittarius November 22-December 21
It’s perfectly fine to acknowledge your feelings and wear your heart on your sleeve—it’s even healthy. Just be aware that others might not embrace the same level of intensity or feel the same need to express their emotions. Love is not a competition, and if you let it flow freely you’ll be quite content.

Capricorn December 22-January 19
Conversations with significant others, personal as well as professional, could reveal information you’ve been looking for, especially levels of commitment. But before you forge ahead and make plans based on these exchanges, take the time to digest and integrate how the data actually affects mutual participation.

Aquarius January 20-February 18
Authenticity is your greatest ally, so be honest with yourself and don’t hold back with others, even if that means having uncomfortable conversations. I’m not suggesting you blurt out hurtful words. I’m simply advising you to summon the courage to tell the truth to yourself and to those you love.

Pisces February 19-March 20
Before you despair about your financial situation, take a moment to assess your definition of abundance. Is it only about money? Is abundance a state of being? Or is it an attitude? Embrace these questions and you’ll recalibrate your point of view, not just about your finances but also about what it means to be rich.
