Aquarium Age

The Aquarium Age: Feb. 7-13

By Ralfee Finn

I cannot wrap my head around the idea that anyone could or would call the FBI liberal—J. Edgar Hoover, even if he is already reincarnated as a rock somewhere on a distant planet at the other end of the galaxy, is certain to be raging over this utterly preposterous accusation, and Roy Cohn—a friend of Trump’s—is also sure to be having a stroke in whatever hell realm he’s been assigned to. But I have to admit it makes me smile just to think about the FBI as liberals—it’s so outrageous. My parents were card carrying members of the Communist Party their entire adult lives and the FBI were not friends of my family. My father was blacklisted and FBI agents followed him from job to job, insuring he would be fired from whatever job he managed to find. Growing up, the FBI were so much a part of my family system—they seemed to stay so close—that my father taught our dog, Maynard, how to lift his leg and pee whenever anyone said, “FBI.”

No part of me believes Mr. Trump’s bald-faced lie and phony baloney accusation that the FBI is a liberal branch of the government. I think I must be having a bad acid flashback. Just when I thought I had seen everything, Mr. Trump manages to trump himself. He and his Gang of Hungry Ghosts must be very, very scared, and they should be, given that colluding with Putin/Russia to meddle in an American election is tantamount to treason. But the irony of the moment isn’t lost on me: I live in a world where I am defending the very organization that persecuted my father, and I have genuine empathy for the many members of the FBI who feel betrayed by their President. Wow. The world really is upside down and inside out.

And so it goes in the current eclipse zone, where the lines that define normal are blurred by the reversals of lunar and solar light. This week is the midpoint between the lunar eclipse of January 31 and the solar eclipse of February 15, both of which are related to the eclipses of last August. Normally a solar eclipse reveals all sorts of hidden things lurking in the shadows. The Moon overrides the Sun and unconscious drives overpower conscious concerns. Often eclipses reveal surprising information. Take the solar eclipse of 1998, which was on President Clinton’s Sun…Monica Lewinsky, anyone?

Uranus ups the ante on next week’s solar eclipse, as it sextiles both the Sun and the Moon, as well as Mercury, which is traveling in unison with the Sun. All three—Sun, Moon and Mercury—are conjunct at 26-27 degrees of Aquarius. Those born at the end of the Fixed Signs—Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius—are likely to feel the effect of this eclipse quite keenly. So if you’re feeling slightly disoriented or disconnected, don’t despair. As much as this mantra is a cliché, use it: This too shall pass.

The orb of an eclipse—lunar or solar—makes it tricky to identify or pinpoint its effect. The orb of influence can be felt six weeks before and after the actual event, and when other planets transit the exact degree of an eclipse, known as the eclipse sensitive point, the eclipse effect is reactivated. This wide timeframe makes it a little difficult to make exact correlations, but the beauty of Mr. Trump is his consistently outrageous behavior, which makes it possible to choose almost anything as evidence of an eclipse effect. I am most curious to know what was revealed to Mr. Mueller during last year’s eclipse orb of influence, which ranged from the last week of June through the last week of September, 2017. It would be interesting to know how those revelations and that information is related to the current situation. But…alas…we will probably never know.

For those of us not in politics, this midpoint in the eclipse zone continues to wobble the regular routines of daily life, so don’t be surprised if you find yourself on uncertain or unstable ground. You could find yourself experiencing doubts about areas of life where you’ve previously felt completely confident. Or you could start doubting decisions made since June 2017, rethinking or even regretting some of those choices.

Finding and maintaining your equilibrium won’t be easy, but it is a worthwhile endeavor because if you can establish balance in the midst of the current flux, that balance is certain to endure. The world may appear to be changing the tilt of its axis, but the constants that comprise a wholesome life are always steady. Hold fast to compassion and kindness—they will guide us all through the current storm.

Sun Bursts: If you know your Ascendant and/or your Moon Sign, read that too.

Aries March 21-April 19
When we learn to analyze dreams, we’re taught to view everyone in the dream as an aspect of ourselves—it’s a powerful way to see our multidimensional nature and explore the unconscious judgments we’re holding about ourselves. What if daily life is a dream and all the people who populate our world are really aspects of ourselves that we are holding judgment about—good and bad. View your days as dreams and you’ll gather your personal power.

Taurus April 20-May 20
It’s not so much a matter of finding your balance in the midst of turmoil—it’s more about discovering what helps you maintain your equilibrium even when you seem to be moving forward at the speed of light. Part of the puzzle is figuring out what feeds your soul and then making that spiritual nourishment a part of each and every day. Another piece is all about prioritizing your time and energy—know what’s important and infuse every area of life with that knowing.

Gemini May 21-June 21
A peaceful mind coupled with a peaceful heart is a joy to embody—and you have an opportunity to find that equanimity even in impossible situations. So rather than despair that there aren’t enough opportunities to strut your stuff, deepen your trust in the divine. When we’re happy and everything is going our way, we rejoice in the perfection of the universe. But when there’s something we need and that need isn’t getting met, we doubt…so stay in gratitude.

Cancer June 22-July 22
Oh, to not be pulled apart by extremes! On one hand, you’re nervous about money—after all, didn’t the stock market dip Monday and last Friday? But on the other, you’re planning that very cushy cottage rental for the summer. Hmmm…the contrast between the two is striking, but it also reflects your financial dilemma. There’s no one-size-fits-all solution. There’s just you and your ongoing process about what makes you feel safe and secure.

Leo July 23-August 22
Be in the flow of your innately passionate personality and be prepared for lots and lots of feelings, some that are easily identifiable and others that are new and maybe a little scary because they are so intense. But there really isn’t anything to be afraid of—you’re just opening your heart to yourself at a new level. Keep breathing and keep including, and keep witnessing, and more than anything else, keep feeling. With time you’ll get used to being so alive.

Virgo August 23-September 22
There’s a simple solution to help you find your balance and maintain it despite all the winds of change that may be blowing through your life: Refuse to engage in any negativity or violence. Make a commitment to peace by showing up, staying present, and speaking your truth even if others don’t agree with your opinions. Hold fast to your principles—they are your foundation. This is about knowing when to charge into battle and when to stay still.

Libra September 23-October 22
The best way to find your balance at the midpoint of this eclipse is to be authentic. There’s no need to embellish what you feel, nor is it necessary to deny what you feel. It’s a rare opportunity to acknowledge the power of feelings without being swept away by them—and that’s not an easy challenge. Nevertheless, there are lots of opportunities for positive results if you’re willing to be true to your heart.

Scorpio October 23-November 21
Joseph Campbell once taught us that following our bliss would give birth to a lifetime of happiness. He did not say it would lead to millions of dollars—but the truth is that if you’re happy, the millions don’t matter so much. If you haven’t already, find out what makes you happy. Life is really too short to only spend time doing things out of need and/or responsibility. Allow joy to balance your endeavors and you’ll find the key to personal satisfaction.

Sagittarius November 22-December 21
The first edition of your horoscope this week was a repeat of last week until a faithful Sagittarius pointed out that there was a mistake. Hmmm…sorry about that, but the message this week is pretty much the same, with one significant exception: That tendency to speak before you think that’s been a bother for a while transforms into an asset, especially when you speak from the heart with a sound intention to assist others.

Capricorn December 22-January 19
There used to be an expression: Money doesn’t grow on trees. And of course, what every child knows these days is that money comes from ATM machines. (Just kidding). You know that money comes from hard work, determination, discipline, and ambition—and not necessarily in that order. What you may still have to learn is how to balance your desire for material success with a desire for spiritual insight. Be ambitious—but don’t make money a god.

Aquarius January 20-February 18
The way to find and maintain your balance is to own your inner light and let it shine—that’s right, put yourself out there and be the star of your own movie. No apologies, no holding back, and no giving your turn to someone else. Just you being you and allowing the rest of the world to witness your brilliance. I know you want everyone to be special, and I admire that about you, but right now it’s your turn to be the most special—don’t let it slip away.

Pisces February 19-March 20
There’s no need for me to remind you about just how intuitive you are, but if you need a reminder to acknowledge that gift, this is it. Your sensitivities are off the charts right now, so rather than get freaked out about it, own it—you do know who’s calling when the phone rings, and you get those kinds of messages all the time. I’m not advising you to start reading cards or the stars (although if you wanted to you could.) I’m simply advising you to rely on your strong suit.
