Continuity is the key for navigating the ups and downs of the next several weeks. The Wheel of Life continues to move in an eccentric pattern, and as a result, regular routines suffer from inconsistency. Anticipate feeling disoriented or even discombobulated as you make your way through the days and nights of the week. Most of us like our day-to-day life to have a structure we can rely on, but that consistency has been and continues to be hard to find for several reasons, not the least of which is that we’ve been in a powerful eclipse zone—and that always wobbles even the most reliable of worlds. And while the solar eclipse tomorrow, February 15, is the final eclipse in this current cycle which began in August 2017, for the rest of this week and the coming six weeks we are finding our way through the aftermath of these celestial events. This is why continuity is so important—so much has changed, not just in the physical terrain of the world through floods and fires as well as wars and too many refugee populations to list, but the psychic landscape has also shifted, and for some of our fellow travelers those shifts have created too many crevasses to easily bridge. The best way through is to find your constant, but try not to cling to an emotional attitude that will only exacerbate your stress. Try to find your continuity through the ideals that keep you strong within so that no matter how hard the external winds blow, you stay on course, guided by what is true.
Our ancient ancestors saw the king as the representative of the country and of the people—a perspective I subscribe to—but even though I have written much about how this eclipse and its partner eclipse of August 21, 2017 affect Mr. Trump’s chart, it’s important to articulate its profound effect on the lives of mere mortals, like thee and me. The solar eclipse tomorrow, February 15, occurs along the Aquarius/Leo axis—a complementary couple that signifies, among many other areas of life, the relationship between individual self-expression and how that creativity has the power to transform into an expression of collective, universal truth.
Eclipses alter the ‘normal’ order of things, and although they happen within a regular and predictable pattern that can be explained by science, they still have the power to challenge our perceptions—when day turns into night, something deep and primal in us gets triggered. For some, it may just be a passing shift in mood, but for others it could activate the need to move into deeper rhythms more closely aligned with archetypal ones. Anticipate the need to reorient yourself to a new perspective, and while it may not be as stark as the contrast between day and night, you may find yourself thinking about things from different angles. This eclipse is in Aquarius, the Sign where we share our gifts with the world, the Sign where we recognize our shared and common ground. Don’t be surprised if you find a new dimension to your creative voice.
In keeping with my yearning for positive creative voices, I discovered Kate Tempest, who blew me away. Her poetry is not only inspiring, but is also a great example of that Leo/Aquarius axis. (For those who already know how powerful she is: I know I am late to the party. But I’m nonetheless finally here and she is a wow.)
And along the lines of poetry, on Friday, February 17, Venus starts to move into a conjunction with Neptune, in Pisces, while the Moon also conjuncts Neptune, and Mars, in Sagittarius, squares the whole lot. Neptune symbolizes poetry, and when its devotion to the visionary combines with Venus’ creativity, almost all of us could be inspired to speak through metaphor or recite myth. Add the emotional signature of the Moon, and much of what’s said is loaded with feeling. The entire bundle is so charged, it’s absolutely possible to mistake projection for reality. Be careful: You don’t want to make that mistake, especially as Mars, the god of war, squares Neptune—the presence of Mars could turn disappointment into anger quite easily. Stay true to yourself but avoid accusations until the air clears, which won’t happen before the end of the month.
As we move through the next couple of months, it would be wise to keep in mind that Uranus is nearing the end of its journey through Aries—it moves into Taurus on May 15, 2018. The stock market correction of the last couple of weeks is an indication of its move from Aries, the Sign of individuation, to Taurus, the Sign of resources, which includes money. As Uranus gets closer to the first phase of its new cycle, we will be experiencing an existential pop quiz on what it means to be an individual—thinking and acting for ourselves.
Uranus retrogrades back into Aries on November 6, the day of the United States mid-term elections, giving us another chance to contemplate the value of the last seven years of Uranian shifts. And then it finally enters Taurus on March 6, 2019, and we begin a deep study of what it means to be a spirit in the material world.
We already have too much to do, which is another reason it’s essential to find your constant and hold fast to its principles, if only because they help create internal continuity, which can then be used to navigate these seas of change. As always, remember to make kindness and compassion your constant companions. Lots of people are struggling to find and maintain their balance, and a helping hand or kind word could steady their way.
Sun Bursts: If you know your Ascendant and/or your Moon Sign, read that too.
Aries March 21-April 19
It is all about finding your balance and maintaining that equilibrium—and no, I am not confusing you with Libra. It’s important to stay flexible so that you can lean this way or that to keep recalibrating in the midst of change. But you can do this—just hold the vision of stillness within and the shifts won’t be jarring.
Taurus April 20-May 20
Rather than devolve into anxiety about Uranus moving into your Sign, choose to celebrate your innate creativity—as well as your abundance, which is also an inherent part of your personality. Remember, Uranus only transforms what’s stagnant and in need of transformation. Be willing to grow and you’ll flourish.
Gemini May 21-June 21
The trick is to avoid engaging in any negative interactions that might come back to haunt you. If you have to do battle, choose your fights cautiously and be prepared to argue your case several times. That being said, you can make it all work for you if you are willing to stay on the field and hold your own.
Cancer June 22-July 22
It’s important to stay clear about what’s worth fighting for and who is actually an adversary—and that won’t be easy, given everyone’s tendency to project. One remedy for possible confusion would be to meditate regularly, maybe even a couple of times a day so that your mind is clear for each encounter.
Leo July 23-August 22
While I can’t promise immediate results, if you can stay focused on creative endeavors—impervious to distractions of any kind—you could make strong strides toward tangible gains, material as well as spiritual. Be true to your vision and your passion, and you will find your constant.
Virgo August 23-September 22
Show up with all your feelings, the disappointment as well as the joy, but remember that feelings change and not everything we “feel” is truth. Embrace this wide range of emotions and you will discover significant information about who you are and what you truly desire.
Libra September 23-October 22
Yes…it has been a long, long, long Uranian journey, but while it has tried your heart and soul, it has also delivered a new awareness about who you are in relation not only to others, but also to yourself. Spend as much time as possible contemplating just what’s changed, and you’ll be pleased with your labors.
Scorpio October 23-November 21
There’s a part of you that likes the end of things, if only because you intuitively know that nothing really dies, it just takes on a new form, and as a result you stay curious about what might happen next. Stay tuned, because what lies ahead could completely surprise you with its innovative plot twists.
Sagittarius November 22-December 21
You have so much going on that it’s hard to know where to begin—and there isn’t enough room to isolate and identify every plan and project. So here’s the best I can do: Prioritize your time and energy by being clear about what’s important to do now and what can wait. Make a list, check it twice, and then move into action.
Capricorn December 22-January 19
Allow your starlight to shine through this phase, and don’t be afraid of tackling difficult topics or interactions you would rather avoid. Avoidance isn’t really your nature, but it is a coping mechanism you use when you can’t figure out what to do next. You have all the tools you need for this phase, so have at it.
Aquarius January 20-February 18
There might be a moment when your reactions are so strong you startle even yourself—don’t worry; there’s nothing wrong. It’s just an eclipse, coupled with a strong Mars, and your need to create order and…dare I say it…certainty. The only thing certain in this life is change, so rather than struggle, it would be wise to learn how to handle change gracefully.
Pisces February 19-March 20
You might be stronger than you realize, so rather than bow out of a difficult situation, stay present and see if you can figure out a positive solution. You don’t have to reinvent the wheel or create world peace, but if you can use empathetic skills to soothe ruffled feathers, you’ll get a good sense of your gift.
